Masked food … with an edible cosplay – Italian Cuisine

Dragon Ball - Lonelyman and Bakery

Who has never dreamed at least once to wear the shoes of one of the fantastic characters that populate our cartoons or favorite fantasy movies? Well, the moment of our cosplay has arrived. Maybe going from the kitchen …

The Carnival is approaching and for young and old it's time to disguise yourself. But there are those who do not wait for Thursday or Shrove Tuesday to wear a mask. We are talking about cosplayer, groups of people who love to become characters, often drawn from comics, cartoons or films, very dear to them. Linked, at least originally, to Japanese culture, the favorite protagonists almost always come from the world of manga and anime. But with the global spread of the phenomenon, today the choice falls on a much broader imaginary.

The cosplay with … food

A characteristic of cosplayers (at least among the very first ones) has always been to prepare the costume by itself, and not to buy it already done, as we usually do at Carnival. Nevertheless, the making of the mask is often expensive. But imagination, ingenuity and a strong sense of humor, added to a witty game with perspective, can give rise to extraordinary as much comical reinterpretations.
As evidenced by "Low Cost Cosplay" (on Facebook and Instagram): the cosplay at low cost. Among the many, there is a cosplayer, Lonelyman, who enjoys making his own costumes using fruit, vegetables, bread, brioches … In the picture below we see him in the role of Dragon Ball, protagonist of the homonymous manga written and illustrated by Akira Toriyama and later transformed into a cartoon TV series.

A bit of cosplay history

The term is the contraction of English words "costume" (costume) and play (game or interpretation): in practice it is the hobby to dress up as your favorite character. Usually this happens during public events such as conferences on anime, but it is not unusual for teenagers to gather together with friends with the same passion just to do cosplay. In Japan the practice is very widespread, so much so that one could say that the Rising Sun is its homeland. It is here that in 1984 the word cosplay was born, coined by the reporter Takahashi Nobuyuki. But it is only since 1995 that the phenomenon takes on a certain importance, when the Japanese press dedicates space to a group of young people in the city of Tokyo wearing costumes inspired by characters of Neon Genesis Evangelion, TV series in cartoons (anime) of 26 episodes. Since then the cosplay has become increasingly widespread becoming what is now a global phenomenon, full of international events that see the participation of thousands of fans. Even in Italy cosplay is now well established and has many fans and appointments.

Notice for Italian fans: in the coming months will be released Dragon Ball Super Broly, the new film in the series. You do not think to present yourself in theaters without wearing the clothes of our hero? Maybe … in edible version!

STARS AND FOOD - AQUARIUS - WEEK FROM 11 TO 17 FEBRUARY

Fortuborn from the 21 January al 19 February

The chef recommends: Dear #Acquario meanwhile, the week starts a bit 'uphill even if the sun is in the sign and Simon remembers that last week he also talked about "reset" (of more or less voluntary "closures", more or less recent), but which at this moment can give the possibility to make room for an important novelty. Since many things affect the trend and the perception of the days, starting from what we eat every day, you know and I know that breakfast is very important and give space to this moment, do not have breakfast quickly, play at have breakfast like a king or a queen, either at home or at the bar. One thing is very important, a glass of water before you start eating anything!

Magic fruit: Oranges and orange juice and the invitation is to use them also for beautiful desserts.
