In recent years, thanks to the growing use of the Instagram social network on a global scale, more and more restaurants, museums and tourist attractions have been born or have adapted to this new fashion, creating real installations, light games and colored scenography designed to make as a backdrop to visitors' selfies. Just marrying this new social-friendly trend, Umbul Ponggok, a water park, was recently born in Indonesia perfect for snorkeling and breathtaking dives, but also for original underwater photo shots perfect for getting noticed on Instagram.

Indonesia's first waterpark and water attraction for Instagramer

Umbul Ponggok is located in a small village located in Central Java, or the Indonesian province which is located in the central part of the island of Java. This water park, the first in Indonesia, has as its main objective to make the experience of the marine environment live, complete with diving and underwater explorations, but in a pool of fresh, cold and refreshing natural water. The cost of the park ticket is 15,000 Indonesian rupees, or less than one euro, and various rental services are available at the entrance, including the usual wetsuit equipment, fins and masks for diving and snorkeling.

To attract social audiences, this natural park is also possible rent underwater cameras or purchase photographic services made by staff members, so as to have do-it-yourself or professional shots that you can share on Instagram and on social networks. The backdrop of this splendid lake, in addition to being already made unique by its crystal clear waters and the presence of colorful fish, has also been enriched by props of various types and even a little extravagantsuch as a camping tent, heart-shaped benches, a kitchen-style location complete with table, chairs and TV and even bicycles and scooters. In short, this waterpark really seems the ideal place to live an exciting experience and to collect truly unique and creative "aquatic selfies"!

The success of Umbul Ponggok is a success for the country

The lake where this new original tourist attraction stands, 70 meters long and 40 meters deep, was once a polluted pond and used by citizens to bathe or wash their clothes. In 2006, however, the head of the village sensed its great potential in both naturalistic and economic terms, and therefore decided to have it cleaned up and turned into a pleasant seaside destination. Currently the natural park, also thanks to the call of Instagramers from all over the world and the media coverage obtained (think that even the President of Indonesia is a fan and has posted a selfie on Instagram!), it is enjoying great success in terms of online visibility, but above all of visits, which represents great support for the local economy. Near the entrance to the park there are, among other things, commercial activities for the sale of souvenirs and objects by the small local community.
