Baglio Aimone is a winery immersed in a WWF nature reserve in the province of Trapani, the most suitable area for some Sicilian native vines

There is a company in Sicily, in the province of Trapani, the southwestern area of ​​the island, which has always been considered the most vine-planted in Italy and the most suitable for some of the native vines of this wonderful land, in whose wines have the name and character of the knights of the epic poems of the thirteenth century, who defended their beloved and homeland with sword and honor. Baglio Aimone is a winery founded in 2012 within a WWF Nature Reserve, 300 hectares of land surrounded by several lakes, including Lake Preola, Lake Murana and other smaller ones of karst origin, on the ridge of a hill that embraces with look at all the vineyards and the Mediterranean scrub where they are inserted The wines that are produced here are all from vines over 50 years old, plants with a curvilinear trunk that have been able to sink their roots into the soil and suck all the nutrients from there to give the grapes the best that nature can do.

The wines of Baglio Aimone

The name of the Baglio itself and that of the wines, Iratus, Mandricardo, Doralice, Ferraù and Argalia, they originate from the characters of the tales of chivalry, later transposed into the Sicilian tradition of the Opera dei Pupi. The first epic was precisely The four sons of Aimone, from the thirteenth century, from which the paladins and their deeds were born, narrated by Boiardo and Ariosto inOrlando in love and inOrlando furious. They are made with grapes Grillo, Zibibbo, Grecanico, Cataratto and Nerello Mascalese in purity, fermented and aged in thermo-controlled steel tanks, to preserve varietal authenticity. A careful monochrome selection of Sicilian native grapes, rigorously harvested by hand, in crates, and in the early hours of the day, to obtain grapes of the highest quality and preserve the health of the plants. Among the types there are also two sparkling wines, both Martinotti method, one a Brut vintage and the other an Extra Dry.

The birth of the cellar

It was the decision to revive the Baglio, dating back to the 18th century Baldàssare Paladino, born in Petrosino, Sicily, but then moved to Genoa. Over the years it has succumbed to the call of its own land and has decided to recover the ancient family tradition of winemakers and enhance the architectural heritage of beloved Sicily. From his work these bottles were born, a real synthesis of what this territory can offer. A work also recognized nationally by various guides, starting with Wines of Veronelli ai Good Wines of Italy.
