How to make donuts at home

They are the favorite desserts of all children, with their soft and fluffy dough, and sugar to cover them. Preparing them at home is possible, it only takes a little time and manual skills, but the result is guaranteed

Greedy, soft and sweet: they are donuts, a classic among the leavened, fried, sugar coated, a perfect snack for all children. Often they are served filled with pastry cream or jam, but they are also delicious without any filling. Their preparation is enough hardworking, because of the dough that must be worked for a long time, preferably with a planetary mixer, and for the rising times, necessary for the donuts to take on the classic swollen and soft shape. In short, a lot of effort, which will then be rewarded at the first bite! Here is our recipe for tasty donuts.

Ingredients for donuts

250 g of manitoba flour
250 g of flour 0
150 g of sugar
25 g of brewer's yeast
125 ml of warm milk
80 g of butter
zest of one lemon
125 ml of water
salt

Procedure: the donuts step by step

Put the milk in a bowl and melt the yeast. In another bowl mix the flours, sugar, water and lemon zest. Add the yeast, butter and mix well. Finally add the salt. If you have a planetary mixer, mix the ingredients at least for 15 minutes, so that the dough is smooth and elastic, otherwise arm yourself with strength and patience and do it by hand. At this point let everything rise for at least an hour in a dry place. Once the mixture has doubled in volume, roll it out with a rolling pin and with a coppapasta make some small disks that you will place on a baking tray covered with parchment paper. Let them rise again for 30 minutes and then gently dip them in the pan in which you will have warmed up plenty of peanut oil for frying. Let them brown on both sides and then with a slotted spoon remove them from the oil and let them dry on a plate covered with paper towels. Once cooled, cover them with some sugar and serve them.
