In English they are called Waffle, in French, gaufre. I'm crispy waffles outside and soft inside that you cook with one plate particular and serve stuffed to taste, with fruit, chocolate, Maple syrup and so on. Their origin seems to go back to ancient Greece, while in the Middle Ages, in France, small cakes were cooked, called gaufre, which in ancient French means "Honeycomb", as waffles are presented today.

Making waffles at home is simple: these pods are perfect for one snack substantial with friends or one weekend breakfast. A small trick! Before starting to mix the ingredients remember that you will need thespecial waffle plate, which cooks the batter and creates the typical honeycomb weave.

The extra touch? Flavor the waffles!
In addition, or instead of the vanilla extract, you can add cinnamon, grated lemon zest, cocoa, fresh squeezed orange juice, chopped walnuts or whatever you want to the dough.
How to fill the waffles?
Melted chocolate, chopped fruit, maple syrup, Nutella, whipped cream, even a scoop of ice cream: waffles can be filled as desired. If you have guests, prepare different bowls on the table with ingredients of various kinds, so as to meet the tastes of each and let them fill their waffles as they please. Try them also in the savory version with potatoes, cheese and ham.
