Mary Pickford recipe, the original cocktail

A delicious cocktail to behold, but also beautifully strong: like the actress to whom it was dedicated, beloved diva of the silent film and wife of Douglas Fairbanks, reckless protagonist of cape and sword films (together in the photo). A former child prodigy full of curls and smiles, she won an Oscar and then became a skilled producer and businesswoman, hosting the company's crème in her Beverly Hills villa

  • 6 cl rum Diplomatico Mantuano (dark rum)
  • 6 cl fresh pineapple juice
  • 1 cl Maraschino Luxardo
  • 1 cl grenadine syrup
  • cherries or black cherries in Fabbri spirit
  • ice

To prepare the Mary Pickford cocktail, chill a Champagne glass. Prepare a skewer of cherries or black cherries in alcohol.
Pour all the ingredients directly in an ice shaker and shake vigorously. Strain into the frozen cup with a fine strainer. Decorate with a skewer of cherries or black cherries.

Serve with prawn cocktail
Prepare the pink sauce by mixing mayonnaise, ketchup and a spray of brandy, dosing the quantities according to your taste. Spread the boiled prawns in small bowls, add the pink sauce and complete with small lettuce leaves, a few lemon wedges and a few leaves of thyme.
