Autumn: movies and popcorn (all tastes!)


Popcorn is always a great idea: to accompany an evening on the couch, but also as a snack. Here's how to make them even more delicious, in different variations

You have planned a home Saturday evening, you and your family on the sofa to see a movie all together, and are you thinking of the goodies to offer? There Homemade Pizza it's a must, but we want to put in with popcorn? These, if there is the TV evening, they can't really miss it!

The beauty, however, is all in make them at home: it takes really few minutes and you will get this delicious comfort food that everyone likes. But do you know how you can make it more tasty? Varying tastes! Yes, because there are not only salted popcorn, but they can also be sweet, spicy … You can really indulge yourself!

Here are a couple of tips on how to prepare and indulge them: ready?

Popcorn: what are they?

Popcorn is often included among the junk food, but in reality they do not hurt, if eaten naturally and in limited quantities. This is nothing more than corn kernels which swell and expand when exposed to heat. You can use butter or oil to get the final result. Once popcorn has burst, flavorings such as salt, sugar or spices can be added.

Popcorn: nutritional properties

Natural, non-flavored popcorn is mainly made up of carbohydrates. It has a low fat content and a high content of fibers, which how snacks makes it preferable to chips. Contains minerals such as iron, zinc, magnesium and some B vitamins, but not in large quantities, and is traditionally low in calories: a portion of 30 gr only supplies 122 calories. However, cooking it in plenty of oil or butter or adding spices could triple the calories. For example, a bag of 30 g of buttered popcorn, microwaved, provides over 10% of the recommended daily salt intake.

Popcorn: the classic recipe

For to prepare popcorn not much use: one casserole with lid, seed oil or butter and abundant corn kernels. Heat the oil, add the beans and then cover with the lid: you will begin to hear your popcorn crackling!

You want to cook them at microwave? Get yourself a glass bowl resistant to high temperatures, pour the oil on the bottom, then your corn grains, taking care to cover it with plastic wrap. Then put in the microwave at 750 w for a few minutes, so that the heat can make them burst. Here are your popcorn, to season with salt or sugar, according to the classic method. Lots of popcorn tastes!

This is the time to let your imagination go free! In the savory variant, you can flavor them with del cheese. For example, if you have fontina at home, grate it on the popcorn, spread evenly on the drip pan, and pass it over for a few minutes in the oven until the cheese melts. Do they give a Bollywood movie on TV? Stay on the topic, flavoring your popcorn with a spice mix at your leisure: try curry, turmeric and a pinch of paprika, for a spicy touch, but not too much! Are you sweet with sweets? Try them at chocolate. Do this: get yourself a piece of chopped dark chocolate, to melt in a bain-marie. Then pour this fondue on hot popcorn: a pleasure! Prefer la Nutella? Heat a bowl in the microwave and make your popcorn. Then there is the luscious recipe at butter and raspberries; finally, try them at caramel, which you will get by melting sugar in a saucepan with a tablespoon of water, then adding some butter. Once the caramel is formed, stir in the popcorn. Mouth-watering!
