Figs, the summer source of energy

Sweet and juicy, figs are considered "fruits of health" for its countless positive effects on the body. And if combined with the right foods it helps to keep the line

Very ancient plant, mentioned in the Old Testament, sacred to Buddhists and Muslims and to the god Dionysus in ancient Greece, the fig tree is part of the Mediterranean tree heritage from ancient times. Its origin is to be found in the Middle East, from an ancient region called Caria from which its name seems to derive. Always symbol of prosperity and serenity, Plato claimed that they contributed to increasing intelligence, the ancient Romans were gluttonous and even Dante and Leopardi often mention them in their writings.

In June, in the early summer, the so-called mature figs with flowers, rich in nutrients, anti-constipation fibers and draining minerals; the supplied (or real figs) ripen from August to September is late figs or craters arrive in autumn. The figs of June in particular for their excellent contribution of pectins and minerals have remarkable diuretic and digestive properties and for this reason, consuming three or four at the most a day can certainly not hurt the line. Figs, in fact, are reputed to be enemies of the line like a lot of "sugary" fruit but in reality they contain fibers and potassium that fight liquid and fat stagnation and if well matched, they make you lose weight.

The least risky figs for the line are the fresh ones that it is always better to combine with a protein source such as a natural yogurt, ricotta or even raw ham deprived of fat, and to a source of "good" fats such as walnuts, hazelnuts or almonds. In this way, in addition to enhancing the flavor, you will avoid causing your blood sugar to surge, raise the insulin and accelerate the accumulation of fat. Dried figs, instead, they have a much higher calorie intake (almost 300 calories in 100 grams) ed it is good to consume them sparingly.

Rich in vitamins, in particular A, B1, B2, B3 and C, figs are mineralizing due to the presence of calcium, potassium, magnesium, iron and phosphorus which strengthen bones and teeth and protect the skin. Because they are very nutritious, they are recommended for those who do sports, heavy work but also for children, the elderly and pregnant women. Precious source of polyphenols, natural substances that play an important role in health, figs are antioxidants, perform an action anticancer and fight "bad" cholesterol helping to reduce it.
