The challenge of the barbecue enthusiasts Griglie Roventi is in Pink Edition


This special Pink Edition, scheduled for Saturday 20 July, will donate part of the proceeds to Lilt. Registration is open: 100 pairs of grills will compete

Who will be the «king of the barbecue this year? 200 competitors are warming up the engines for the 14th edition of Hot Grills, Italy's biggest barbecue championship, scheduled, as always, in Jesolo, on July 20th. It will be a challenge to the best barbecue, but also a big party and an opportunity to help finance the activities of the Italian League for the Fight against Cancer, to which part of the proceeds will be donated.

The challenge

Also this year, 100 couples of barbecue enthusiasts, non-professionals, will compete on the same number of grids, in the competition arena set up in Piazza Torino. They will all have the same equipment: Weber gas barbecue, official uniform, Forst beer and Whitecode wine, water and, of course, meat. The kit offered by Maxì is composed of 1.5 kg of chicken legs, sausages and ribs, so that each pair of competitors can demonstrate their ability on different types of meat. Participants will be able to bring their own secret ingredients: vegetables, spices, special sauces to make your own recipe unique. In an hour, they will have to prepare the best barbecue, which will be evaluated by a jury guided this year by the food blogger Angela Maci and made up of chefs, journalists, opinion leaders and sector operators. To determine the winner, the cooking quality and taste of the dish will be evaluated, as well as the placing and the liking of the competitors.

Pink Edition

The arena of play is even the barbecues will be colored pink to support the Italian League for the Fight against Cancer, and all competitors who present themselves with a pink touch will receive a 10 point bonus. And since Hot Grills is always a party, there will be live music with DJs and animators Fred & Jody and the entertainment of Moreno Morello from Strip the News, accompanied by the former tronista and now "mother blogger" Angela Artosin.

Barbecue fans, it's your time: registrations are open and can be perfected through the EventBrite site: the cost is 90 euros, of which 10 will be donated to the Lilt. The public will instead be able to attend the race for free.

Simple, fast and unusual: discover desserts without turning on the oven, but using charcoal

The classic dessert after a nice barbecue is the fruit salad, ice cream or fruit salad with ice cream. But since the embers are still hot, why not exploit them to the end and prepare them delicious grilled desserts? The result will amaze you.

All the fruits on the barbecue

To change a bit the usual fruit salad, try to make some skewers: skewered of the fruit to taste on metal or wooden toothpicks. Then prepare one sauce with two tablespoons of honey, a teaspoon of juice lemon, cinnamon and vanilla in powder. Brush the skewers with this sauce and grill them on each side.
Also the watermelon well suited to grilling: cut into triangles four to five centimeters high and cook them for five minutes on each side. Serve the watermelon with yogurt flavored with honey, cinnamon and mint and a mixture of pistachios.
The peaches half open, pitted, passed in brown sugar and then grilled with rosemary are delicious combined with mascarpone with honey. The same thing can also be done with the grapefruit. However, use cinnamon instead of rosemary.
Among the grilled desserts, pineapple is a great classic. Marinate pineapple slices with rum and brown sugar for at least 15 minutes and then grill them, just one or two minutes per side. Serve thepineapple su ricotta creamed with honey and mint and finish with some coconut flakes.

Grilled desserts: never without chocolate

The smores they are the grilled desserts par excellence, they are that sort of sandwich of slightly salty biscuits, marshmallows and chocolate that you see in the American movies. For a local version use the wraps: fill them with della chocolate and hazelnut and marshmallows spreadable cream. Roll the piadina in aluminum and cook it on the grill.
For a gluten free version use the banana: peel it, place it in aluminum and cut it in half lengthwise, so that a small boat is formed. Stuff it, close it in the foil and the foil is ready to be cooked.

Bruschetta and small pizzas for real gourmands

These two grilled desserts are perhaps a little unusual, but they will win you over at the first bite. For the bruschetta grilled bread and bananas. When the bread is ready, spread on it chocolate and hazelnut cream and finish with grated coconut and grilled banana slices.
For the Small pizzas, make discs from the pizza dough. Grill them on both sides for a few minutes and then stuff the surface with a spoonful of ricotta sweetened with honey or sugar, flakes of dark chocolate and pitted cherries. Cook until the chocolate has melted.

Dessert express

Desserts like plumcake, sponge cake or brioche bread they can be cut into slices and grilled. It will be enough then to accompany them with ice cream, grilled fruit in turn (pineapples, peaches and apricots work particularly well), yogurt or mascarpone or berries for last-minute grilled desserts.
