The carbonara of Violante Placido, without borders – Italian Cuisine

Smiling, cheerful and, as a good Taurus, a great lover of good food, Violante Placido has accepted to participate in the challenge #laricettacheunisce with her carbonara pasta!

The carbonara with which Violante Placido participated in our challenge #laricettacheunisce hides a beautiful memory. And which once again tells of the magical power of carbonara, capable of transporting us elsewhere, making us feel at home and closer to others, forkful after forkful.

«I was in Romania for the shooting of the film Ghost Rider – Spirit of revenge (2012, directed by Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, inspired by the comic book character Ghost Rider, published by Marvel Comics and conceived by Gary Friedrich, Michael Ploog and Roy Thomas ).

It was four months since we were away from home (around Turkey and Romania, ed.) And we were all starting to feel the nostalgia of our kitchen. So one day at lunch we succumbed to the enticements of an "Italian" restaurant.

I, who do not trust Italian cuisine abroad, took a simple thing, while the director ordered a carbonara.

They brought him a plate, a plate of iridescent yellow pasta, with pieces of melted cheese and ham floating in a sea of mysterious sauce.

I admit, however, that I had the courage (and curiosity) to taste it. At that point I could only wish the director to be able to eat a real carbonara sooner or later. I had never done it.

Accomplice to his restaurant friend (from the Romanian town, editor's note) I received a phone call in the afternoon telling me that I was waiting in the restaurant kitchen to prepare the carbonara for the whole cast for dinner.

I could not back down, the challenges are my bread, so I improvised chef at the head of a sui generis brigade: the wife of the director and that of another actor.

Doses for 15 people, restaurant pots, suspicious look of the real cook.

I let you imagine the delicate moment when I mixed the pasta with the eggs trying not to turn them into a huge omelette.

I can say that the carbonara was such a success that the owner of the restaurant even handed me a certificate.

Since that time when I prepare this dish for friends or for my family I think that it is always worth trying and that, if it goes, if I have to re-invent myself, I have already prepared a nice international diploma! .
