UNICEF Italy launches a fundraising campaign with a solidarity number 45525, from November 9 to December 31, 2020, to treat and protect over 190 million malnourished children under the age of 5 worldwide, including 47 million suffering from acute malnutrition.
The pandemic from COVID-19 could worsen this already critical situation: it is estimated that, in the absence of timely intervention, an additional 6.7 million children under the age of 5 could suffer from acute malnutrition during the first year of the pandemic.
To help malnourished children, it is possible to donate through solidarity number 45525 with a simple SMS from your mobile phone or with a landline call:
• 2 euro to 45525 with SMS sent from WINDTRE, TIM, Vodafone, Iliad, PosteMobile, Coop Voce, Tiscali mobile phones;
• 5 euro to 45525 with a call from the fixed network TWT, Convergenze, PosteMobile;
• 5 and 10 euros to 45525 with a call from a fixed network TIM, Vodafone, WINDTRE, Fastweb and
Tiscali.
"To combat malnutrition, UNICEF guarantees simple and low-cost interventions throughout the world, such as milk and therapeutic foods with a high protein content, vitamins and minerals that can restore weight and strength to severely debilitated infants and children. Interventions that can make the difference between life and death. The funds raised will support UNICEF programs to combat child malnutrition in Africa and Asia; part of the funds raised will also be used to help vulnerable families living in our country, particularly affected by the crisis caused by COVID-19 ", declared President of UNICEF Italy Francesco Samengo.
Some examples of what we can do with your donation:
• With € 10 you donate therapy with therapeutic milk for 4 infants suffering from acute malnutrition;
• With € 30 you donate 3 baby scales needed to monitor their growth;
• € 40 provides ready-to-use therapeutic food for an entire 8-week life-saving treatment to a child suffering from acute malnutrition.
• With € 15 you donate 7 packages of 100 ml disinfectant. for healthcare professionals engaged in the fight against COVID-19.
