From Mexico with fury, summer drinks and super refreshing to prepare with water, fruit, vegetables and sugar
Have you ever tasted a glass of aguas frescas? Well imagine you are in the blazing sun of the Mexico (if you can't, it's okay even the last time you parked your car in the sun), feeling thirsty and wanting something other than water. Maybe a light, aromatic and very fresh drink. And this is where aguas frescas comes in.
Simply prepared with water, fruit puree and sugar, is the perfect link between flavored water and smoothie. To drink when you are hot, craving something sweet, but not too thick, it is even better if prepared at home. But how do you do it?
How to make aguas frescas at home
First, choose your base. This season we recommend trying with melon, watermelon, peach or pineapple. Prepare a couple of glasses of puree (from which you will get about 8 glasses of drink). You can also try mixing various types of fruit or fruit and vegetables, just as if you were making a smoothie. To make the aguas frescas even more appealing, try adding aromatic herbs such as rosemary, mint and basil. If you love ginger then, the time has come to use it!
Now that the ingredients have been selected, it's time to blend the mixture with water until a homogeneous result is achieved. As an indication, add 6 glasses of water on 2 glasses of pulp. If you use very watery fruit, such as watermelon, you can venture a proportion of 1 to 1 and correct it as you blend.
At this point, tips and take a little taste: add sugar only if it is really necessary! After pouring the mixture into a carafe, allow to cool in the refrigerator for a couple of hours and serve in glasses with ice cubes. Yes, we want to be cold.
