In the heart of lesser known Sicily, surrounded by vineyards and almond groves, the two brothers Vincezo and Giuliano Bonfissuto, of the homonymous pastry shop in Canicattì, have found some pistachio plants: an indigenous species, in a state of semi abandonment, which they did not want to abandon.
Thus was born Fustup, the crowfunding project that aims to plant 70 pistachio plants, making the pistachio panettone of Bonfissuto pastry a zero kilometer dessert.
How to adopt a pistachio
There are various ways to support the campaign, from free donation, to a minimum of 30 euros to receive pistachio panettone at home, up to 1000 to adopt 70 plants and not only to taste the leavened product but also to enjoy a wonderful day in Sicily in the Bonfissuto family business. Participation is open to the whole world, thanks to the Kickstarter platform and the will of the two brothers to become ambassadors of this authentic Sicily and its unique products.
Fastuca, the green gold of Sicily
"With the patronage of the municipalities of Delia, Canicattì and Naro we want to bring" the elegance of Sicily to the world ", also setting an example for all young Sicilian entrepreneurs not to give up, despite the obvious difficulties due to Covid19", says Vincenzo Bonfissuto. “For this we have opted for a crowdfunding platform that involves the whole world, as our products are exported all over the globe. Our hope is that they can be ambassadors of that authentic Sicily that we want to make known right now that international tourism is essentially at a standstill ".
Contributing to the project will be a unique way to discover the true roots of Sicily and support the bond between the land, people and its products. The name of the project takes up an Arabic term, later assimilated by the Sicilian dialect: fastuca, it means green gold, in fact, pistachio.
