It comes from England (with a very special history) to refresh your evenings. The ingredients? Pimm's of course, and then strawberries and cucumbers
In England the Pimm's it is a slightly "snobbish" drink, upper class to put it in English, and is traditionally served in Wimbledon and at polo tournaments. In essence it is a cocktail refreshing and fresh, perfect for hot evenings summer, which you can also try making at home.
History of Pimm's
In 1823 in London James Pimm opened a kiosk of oysters and shellfish in the heart of the City, right next to the Bank of England.
To accompany the dishes he offered his customers a "Tonic to aid digestion". A drink made from gin, quinine and a mix of herbs invented by him and served in a glass called N ° 1 Cup.
Twenty years later this tonic has become so famous that Mr. Pimm put it on the market under the name of Pimm's N ° 1 Cup.
The Pimm's then became five, but now only N ° 3 based on brandy, and N ° 6 based on vodka remain on the market.
In Italy it is possible to find N ° 1 in many supermarkets (or online), still produced with the same secret recipe from 1840, known only by six people.
How to serve Pimm's
The most famous cocktail in England is based on Pimm's N ° 1 and ginger ale, a sweet and sparkling ginger-based drink that can also be replaced by lemonade, as we will do in our recipe.
What the real Pimm's does, however, is the addition of some fundamental gradients: the cucumber, strawberries and orange slices.
