The school canteen is not a right for everyone

In 60 of the poorest countries in the world, school meals are often the only one for 18 million children. To help the WTO feed it every day, shop at Eataly and donate one euro (or take part in the star dinner on December 13)

The World Food Program (WFP) is the United Nations Humanitarian Agency, which works in over 80 countries around the world, providing food assistance to those affected by conflicts and natural disasters. Scholastic meals is the program that in 2017 saw WFP provide meals to school to over 18 million children in 60 of the poorest countries in the world. For these children, the nutritious meal of WFP constitutes often the only one available in the day and therefore guarantees them better nutrition in order to grow in health, encouraging them to attend classes and, therefore, giving them the opportunity to build a better future. WFP is 100% funded on a voluntary basis and each donation makes a difference for the lives of millions of people.

Donate € 1: they are worth € 2 or € 3, from Eataly

In the period that goes from 26 November to 23 December 2018, in the points of sale of Eataly Milan, Rome and Turin it will be possible to make, directly at the cash desk, a donation starting from 1 europer to support the School meals program. Eataly, in collaboration with Mastercard and WFP Italia, proposes a fundraising initiative: for every euro donated, Eataly will double the amount and, if the amount is paid by Mastercard or Maestro, the donation will be tripled. At WFP, 20 euro cents are enough to provide a school meal for a child. The donation of € 1 will thus ensure nutritious food for a child for an entire school week.

A Dinner with the stars: December 13 in Milan

In addition, to further support the WFP School meals program, on December 13 Eataly and Mastercard will promote, pEataly Smeraldo, Dinner with the stars, a great event organized in collaboration with the association Jeunes Restaurateurs (JRE) and Viviana Varese of Alice Ristorante. A full five-course menu with paired wines, elaborated as well as by Viviana Varese Chef of Alice – the restaurant inside Eataly Smeraldo (1 Michelin star) – by four Chefs JRE Italia: Andrea Sarri of the Sarri restaurant of Imperia, Past Président (1 Michelin star), Filippo Saporito of the Legend of the Friars of Florence (1 Michelin star), Silvio Battistoni of the Hotel Restaurant Le Colonne of Varese and Martina Caruso of the Signum of Salina ( 1 Michelin Star). The dinner will allow guests to participate in a unique event for its taste and its solidarity. The entire proceeds from the dinner will in fact be donated to the WFP program. To take part in the Dinner with the Stars, it is possible to book the desired seats online at www.eataly.it or directly at the Eataly Milano infobox.
