Photo Vogue Festival 2020, the program – Italian Cuisine

Given the general uncertainty caused by the Covid -19 pandemic (in particular regarding the rules of social distance), the heart of the fifth edition of the Photo Vogue Festival (PVF), organized by Vogue Italia, moves to a specially designed digital platform for the event and designed by MONOGRID studio, which will host, in addition to the exhibitions, live talks, screenings and portfolio reviews:

PHOTOVOGUEFESTIVAL.VOGUE.IT

The platform presents, in a visionary way, the main exhibitions of PVF 2020 in full version: All in this together and In the picture – Shifting perspectives in fashion photography.

Until November 30, 2020, a selection of photographs from the two exhibitions is also exhibited outdoors, on the gates of the perimeter of the Porta Venezia Gardens, to interface and interact with the city of Milan.

The exhibitions are visible in the key points of the city of Milan on Maxi Led Urban Vision until November 22nd.

As with every previous edition, the festival is a unique opportunity for fashion and photography enthusiasts to get in touch with professionals in the sector, from artists to curators, and learn more about the contemporary photographic landscape.

TALKS AND PROJECTIONS

From 19 to 22 November, the Photo Vogue Festival platform will be animated by conversations about photography in all its forms and by projections made by Magnum Photos, PHmuseum and Slideluck Editorial.

In line with the mission of the PVF, the talks of this edition will range from photojournalism to fashion photography, dealing with pressing and current issues such as: representation and empowerment, black voices in Italy and in the international fashion system, the evolution of the representation of people with disabilities and gender identity in the media, the analytical reading of news photographs, the impact exerted on professional photography by sharing images on social media and that of the moment of uncertainty we are going through on art and publishing.

Taking into account the fact that a growing part of our existence is lived online, and genetics and biotechnology will soon be able to take us to the extremes of human nature, director Ben Ditto and musician Arca are already exploring through disparate means (ranging from photography , to video, from performance to fashion and beauty) new definitions of the concept of identity, blurring the boundaries of each category and giving light to a new radical posthuman iconography. OUT OF THE BOX: THE REPRESENTATION OF THE BLACK BODY IN ITALY
A conversation between Igiaba Scego, Esther Elisha and Alessia Glaviano

In the collective imagination, the black body is often seen as "aggressive". If we then think of the female body, the representation of the body immediately materializes in metaphors of a sexual nature. The residue of a colonial legacy, Italian racism, radically different from the American one, is profoundly influenced by its past and by the contradictory relationship with Africa. A conversation between Marcella Manni, Francesco Bellina and Francesca Marani

Although Ballarò is the story of the casual and fortuitous meeting between Francesco Bellina and Antonio Marras through social networks during the lockdown, it is also the chronicle of two days in September in which the Sardinian designer and artist meets the Sicilian photographer – in the place that he defines home – and he lives with him, in a set that is as itinerant as it is alive, open and real. Despite Ballarò, it is appropriate to say, it was carried out in the historic and connoted district of the same name in Palermo: a project that combines social investigation and performance, upsets the canons of fashion photography and photojournalism and approaches a community, its habits and conventions with a discreet, lucid and ironic eye, without rhetoric.
