The sleigh with the neon lights

The stories under the tree. We all have a secret memory of the holidays from when we were children. There are also those who have actually seen Santa Claus on a bright sleigh! For you one of the stories of our editorial staff taken from the December issue

The reindeer about to leap into the sky, Santa Claus dressed in red and, behind him, a large load of packages and sacks.
The sled was stationary on the large terrace of the house opposite and I kept my eye on it. With his nose pressed against the window pane, his breath created halos that blurred everything. I was four years old and I thought the children in that house must have been really good to receive that flood of gifts.
Days went by, but Santa's sleigh was always standing there. I got up on tiptoe and craned my neck to try to see among all those lights if there were any packages for me, but the sleigh didn't move an inch.
Christmas Eve had arrived and I had lost all hope. I drank the milk and ate the cookies intended for the reindeer, thinking that they must have been well refreshed in the house opposite. Then I went disconsolate to sleep. But, surprise, on Christmas morning I found dozens of colorful packages under the tree. I was sure I saw at least a couple of them on the sled, despite the distance. The most beautiful moment of the year had begun: unwrapping the gifts and playing all morning, waiting to taste my mom's Russian salad, which has never been missing on our party table, but above all the panettone submerged in cream .
