From half-liter cocktails delivered in the first lockdown to recipes in jars, Affini inaugurates a new concept of mixology and cuisine

During the last lockdown the boys of Affine were the first to create the delivery as an aperitif, with the half-liter cocktail. Now, for this second lockdown and consequent closure of the premises, they have worked out a new and very particular delivery service.

It will be active three days a week, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and will offer three different types of "aperitif experience": single, double and "family" version.

Affini's best cocktails are made by the head barman Michele Marzella and, in the kitchen, the chef Niccolò Tealdi, for an explosive mix of flavors and aromas. Customers can order Affini classics, such as Daiquiri, Americano, Cosmopolitan, Nuvolari, or DopTravaj (after work, in Piedmontese).

Equally delicious and original are the chef's proposals Tealdi: Chicken sticks breaded in cornmeal with sweet and sour sauce or the fried octopus, shrimp and squid breaded in corn flour or the potato croquettes, served with vegan mayonnaise or cheese and pepper sauce.

A delicious preview for Affini customers, the dishes of the new brand 100 wines and similar, soon to open, which will cut the ribbon in the coming weeks in a very particular location, the Green Pea, the first Green retail park in the world, signed by Oscar Farinetti (former creator of Eataly).
The possibility of tasting the dishes that will be offered in the menu of 100 wines and Affini: the cocktails can be ordered directly on the Affini social channels, or on the Affini Torino website, again combined with new dishes, designed to be served in a classic Piedmontese Burnia.

Finally, the new delivery concept by Affini, the Millenium project, a tribute to some of the great personalities of the 2000s, with as many cocktails created for the occasion:
Obama Mama, a captivating mix of rum, banana and cocoa, created as a tribute to the former president of the United States, and Loose your seltz, based on bourbon, saffron liqueur, fresh mint leaves and ginger ale, in homage to the singer Eminem.
To serve the cocktails, custom glasses have been created for each character. All to collect.

After 27 years of work in Turin with the Birichin restaurant, and more recently the The Egg Bistro, we can say that Nicola Batavia it is one of the pillars of the city catering, even if perhaps little considered by the press and sector guides.

But Nicola Batavia did not stop only in the city: he was the chef for Nike during the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, for those in Beijing in 2008 and in London in 2012.
His work has led him to travel all over the world, making Piedmontese and Italian cuisine known and appreciated.

For some years it has been organizing a delivery service for its customers. And at this change of planning and management of work due to Covid-19 it arrived very well organized; even if he prefers to have customers seated at tables to personally tell about their cuisine.

The take-away and delivery service is provided for both lunch and dinner. At lunch, of course, the proposals are more basic and include two dishes, which vary every week depending on the availability of the ingredients.
Take-away lunch menu, every day, with the bistro formula: black chickpea soup, turnip greens and toma cheese € 6 and a second course for € 9; for example bites of veal alla diavola and polenta.

Take away or delivery dinner, with a dedicated menu, always different. Land menu, € 55, two appetizers, a first choice, a second and dessert; Sea menu, € 57, two appetizers, a first course of your choice, a second course and dessert. The dishes are ready, possibly only to be heated.

On November 30, the new menu was inaugurated You are the chef. Cost € 80 per couple: an exclusive box that contains four courses (drinks not included).
The appetizer is a real delicacy, Onion & Egg on fondue, with puffed rice and cocoa.
The new box will be available throughout the month of December, it can be delivered to Turin and its province by the chef's brigade, but also sent throughout Piedmont and Lombardy, upon reservation.
An original gift idea for the upcoming Christmas holidays, for friends and family, distant but close. Chef Batavia offers a different gift for next Christmas or New Year.

A small Turin bistro offers fish dishes and raw fish in the Santa Rita district

A place that offers authentic seafood delights in the popular district of Turin Santa Rita. Open only for lunch, a choice that may seem strange and risky to many. But Sabino Di Muro he has most likely found the winning formula for working and enjoying free time with his family. It seemed like a good thing.

When did you open the place?

The restaurant was opened in 2005. For about 10 years they have worked as a classic bar: coffee, cappuccinos, breakfast with croissants or toast and sandwiches. Then I had the enlightenment: alongside the bar service a very special lunch, with raw fish and crustaceans, Apulian home cooking focused on fish. We select the raw material a lot because we understand that customers have chosen us, also, for our quality as well as for the attentive service and availability.

Why the choice to stay open only for lunch?

A choice dictated by family needs. A life choice: we work to live and not the other way around.

What dishes do you offer on the delivery menu?

For delivery and take-away we have selected a limited series of dishes: those that are most easily managed in the home kitchen. There is always a selection of raw foods, then marinated anchovies, our toasted Apulian bread and burrata, which changes according to the season: now on the menu we have the tuna tartare and Tropea onion; mussels stuffed with bread and pecorino with sauce. Among the first cavatelli mussels, beans and anchovy sauce, paccheri stuffed with swordfish, artichokes and buffalo au gratin.

Did you already organize the take-out and delivery service in Turin during the first lockdown?

Yes, we started with the take-away, then, given the request, we started with the delivery. On Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, lunch and dinner. However, the order must arrive at least 24 hours before delivery. For delivery, delivery is free, but we only respond to orders of minimum 50 euros. For take-away, of course, there is no minimum. We wanted to continue serving our customers. And then we like to imagine that with our dishes people stop thinking about this complicated situation, spending carefree moments at the table.
