Covid-19 vaccine: when it will be available for catering

In Europe the anti Covid1919 vaccination campaign it started last December 27th. In Italy, the government has launched a strategic vaccination plan against the Coronavirus, approved by Parliament on 2 December, to vaccinate 70 percent of the population, or 40 million Italians, the minimum threshold identified for achieving herd immunity.

Covid-19 vaccine, who has priority

The strategic plan provides four stages of vaccination campaign establishing the priority of vaccine administration – free and not compulsory at the moment – for categories of persons according to "values and principles of equity, reciprocity, legitimacy, protection, promotion of health and well-being". The first step of vaccinations involves the health and social health workers at the forefront of the emergency in order to protect them from the higher risk of being exposed to Covid-19 infection and to transmit it to susceptible and vulnerable patients in health and social settings, as well as in order to maintain the resilience of the health service. In the first phase, vaccinations are also provided to residents and staff of residential care facilities for the elderly (RSA), hitherto heavily affected by the pandemic, and ai over 80, given their high probability of developing serious illness. The first phase of the campaign should be completed by spring and then move on to second step which will involve the people between 60 and 79 years old and who presents at least one chronic disease.

The transition to the next stages of the vaccination campaign

With an additional increased dose availability vaccine and health workers involved in the campaign, you can proceed to stages three and four vaccinating the other categories: school staff, essential service workers, law enforcement and prison staff, staff employed in community places, which could include public establishments such as gyms, theaters, bars, restaurants. The plan does not establish precise timing regarding the phases, because everything will depend on the availability of vaccines, their effectiveness and the progress of the epidemic; on the contrary, the government has stressed the possibility that the vaccination strategy will be modified in progress.

Christmas markets and Covid-19: will they be done or not?

Between canceled events (but other planned initiatives) and stalls set up online, we try at least not to "cancel" the atmosphere of Christmas

Usually in this period we look forward to the inauguration of the Christmas markets, stalls and lights that bring the Christmas atmosphere to cities and villages throughout Italy, which allow us to be together, experiencing a magical moment of flavors and aromas and to find some original ideas for Christmas gifts including artisan products and food and wine specialties. But this year it really seems that we will have to do without it. Among the provisions introduced by Dpcm of 3 November to counter the spread of coronavirus there is in fact a ban on festivals and fairs, including markets.

Markets canceled from Val d’Aosta to Trentino, but …

The traditional Marché Vert Noel, the Christmas market in Aosta foreseen in the Roman theater, it was canceled by the Municipality which, however, reserved the possibility of organizing an alternative event based on the new rules that may be launched after November 24th. Also to Trento an ordinance of the mayor has banned the Christmas markets until 31 December, but there are already those who have proposed to have them from 1 to 15 January. Meanwhile, a tree in the square and a forest for children will be set up.

The magical Advent of South Tyrol (even without markets)

The repercussions of the canceled markets? In South Tyrol, for example, losses of 46 million euros are estimated for the five markets in Bolzano, Merano, Vipiteno, Bressanone is Brunico. After the markets were lost, however, the South Tyroleans did not lose heart and planned a Advent more intimate, but always magical.

TO Bolzano the city will be illuminated by a large tree (1300 lights and 21 meters) in Piazza Walther and there will also be the large Advent wreath placed around the ancient statue of Walther von der Vogelweide which will mark the approach of Christmas. An exhibition of traditional and non-traditional Christmas cribs and decorations will also be set up here, while the large comet will shine in front of the Savings Bank building. Thanks to three different installations, the traditions of San Nicolò, Frau Holle and Santa Barbara will be revived in different points of the historic center. And for the little ones? In Piazza Municipio there will be the small house of Hänsel & Gretel. Christmas Walks will then be organized to discover suggestive and particular locations of the city, while the hotels in the area will offer holiday packages with accommodation and activities offers.

TO Merano the traditional lights will be more than usual and warmer and more subdued. The Christmas Walks will be organized itineraries that will allow everyone to walk outdoors, discovering the most beautiful and hidden corners of the city, with a lantern in hand to illuminate and "warm" the path.

The stalls move to the Internet

If live markets are banned at the moment, there are those who have thought of transfer the houses on the Net. As to Montepulciano, in Tuscany, where the Christmas market will be organized online to support producers and artisans and to keep this tradition alive by giving everyone the opportunity to buy local products and Christmas baskets. Also to Como the event City of Toys, which for 26 editions has made young and old dream with the festival of lights and markets, is about to unveil its online program. We wait…

The rediscovery of wild nature in the era of Covid-19 – Italian Cuisine

Covid-19 is bringing the average Italian traveler to a new form of tourism, increasingly local, responsible and environmentally sustainable. What if it was also an opportunity to isolate yourself by rediscovering the wilderness?

In recent months the theme of "new forms of tourism in the covid-19 era"Is addressed and analyzed by industry experts, including theories, hypotheses and suggestions. Currently, in fact, the average traveler not only has to deal with the fear of having to face a journey full of complications, which may concern both social distancing as well as the anti-covid protocol that accommodation facilities should be required to follow, but also feels the need to live a regenerating holiday. This, in terms of tourist trends, translates on the one hand into short-distance travel, for example for cultural or food and wine explorations of villages and lesser known locations or to rely on the comfort and safety of known or recommended destinations, and on the other to more intimate and adventurous solutions, in the name of rediscovery of wild nature and eco-sustainability.

Summer 2020: more aware ecological holidays

In Italy, during the lockdown period, we witnessed a positive albeit temporary reduction in carbon dioxide emissions (-20%) and a consequent rebirth of nature. Everyone will remember, in fact, how the animals have regained their spaces giving life to unique shows such as the return of dolphins to the Apulian coast or sightings of ducks, hares and roe deer in large cities such as Turin and Milan. The extraordinary nature of these phenomena and the data on pollution have awakened or increased in all of us awareness and sensitivity towards the problem of climate change and environmental pollution. It is not surprising, therefore, that more and more people now want to leave the metropolises and crowded places at a time naturalistic destinations that are as isolated and unspoiled as possible.

Into the Wild post-lockdown holidays

In conclusion, the Covid-19 era traveler is a more responsible traveler who can take advantage of this period to put nature, peace and well-being first. In fact, the alternative and naturalistic holiday model is becoming increasingly popular, thanks to which tourists can enjoy breathtaking landscapes and air quality in peace and, at the same time, reduce frantic rhythms, stress and environmental impact. To do this, you can contact a tour operator specializing in nature trips or you can organize a do-it-yourself trip, perhaps with destinations that are not too far away and intermediate routes or stages to do on foot or by bicycle. As for the type of holiday you can opt for a trip on the road with naturalistic and little tourist destinations, bring with you the equipment to do free camping in mountain woods or near a lake and discover outdoor sports and practices such as birdwatching, trekking or climbing.

In short, by taking a few simple precautions and with the right preparation and equipment, you can spend a pleasant stay in the wild nature that restores our inner balance and that gives us a way to live, appreciate and protect the beauty of the world around us.
