"Nobody can judge me": on the new cover of Vanity Fair, Vanessa Incontrada poses naked against haters and bullying, in favor of the beauty of all women

"This cover is the best moment of recent years," he says in the issue of Vanity Fair on newsstands from 30 September the actress and presenter Vanessa Incontrada which on the cover shows herself completely naked. "It is the arrival point that sees my body becoming a message for all women (and for all men): we must all face, understand and celebrate a new beauty". With pride and courage, the artist together with Vanity Fair becomes the emblem of body positivity, movement that bans body shaming, or any form of bullying against the body and its forms, promoting, on the contrary, a more inclusive idea of beauty. "Nobody can judge me" says the scream on the cover: it is the message that the newspaper will also convey on its digital channels with a video-monologue written by the actress plus a series of meetings, debates and interviews on its social channels and on the vanityfair website .it.

"We wanted this cover and we asked Vanessa Incontrada to pose naked for us to reflect on the theme of Body Positivity and the implications of the classic concept of beauty on our lives", declares the director of Vanity Fair Simone Marchetti. «The question is complicated, sees the body of women at the forefront and includes everything that we have been taught with books, commercials, films, fashion, cartoons and social, cultural and family conditioning from the 1950s to today. In terms of beauty, today what happened to the earth after the discovery of America by Christopher Columbus is happening: where the world was thought to end, another one has begun. And where it was thought that beauty would end perhaps and finally a whole new one is emerging .

In the interview given to the editor of the weekly Vanessa Incontrada tells the beginning of all the criticisms: "In 2008 I had my son Isal. Motherhood, as it happens to all women, transforms your body. And mine turned a lot. The criticisms started. Fierce criticism. Cruel criticism. It is always said that the worst attacks come from who you know. I don't think so: the words that hurt me the most came from those I didn't know. I was disappointed, hurt and bewildered: but why be so bad? . And he continues: «Sometimes you gain weight, others you lose it. One month you are on a diet and want to lose those three kilos, another you feel good about yourself. We are women, our body works like this. It is natural, it must be accepted and above all respected. Nobody can or must judge you .
Vanessa Incontrada then explains the moment in which she made peace with her body: «I finally understood that the battle of the body no longer concerned me but all women. And that if I could make my experience available to others, well it was time to do so ".

Finally, other writers and historians of costume intervene on the subject. Among them, the writer Barbara Alberti, which reflects on aesthetic dictatorships, from that of thinness to feminist exaggerations; the writer Teresa Ciabatti which tells her story of weight loss and self-esteem; Maria Luisa Frisa, critic and fashion curator, who examines the overcoming of the stereotypical idea of beauty; is Sara Gama, captain of Juventus Women and national football team. A symbol of body positivity, then, are also the 12 models chosen for a fashion shoot that celebrates unconventional and unconventional beauty.

The issue is completed by an interview with the Nobel Prize for Literature Olga Tokarczuk which tells how the fight against patriarchy is also done through language; an interview with Alessandro Gassman, acclaimed protagonist of "Non hate" at the Venice Film Festival, which tells the story of the father and son relationship, in the threads of the relationships with his father Vittorio and his son Leo; and the photographic reportage by Marta Bellingreri which traces the history of a circus, which the pandemic blocks in a small town in the Messina area, and changes the lives of the inhabitants forever.

Vanity Fair organizes its first for the occasion webinar, a round table that involves personalities from the world of entertainment, sport and the world of social media to talk about Body Positivity and trigger a conversation on the subject. The round table will be open to the public who can participate with questions and reflections, and will be moderated by the director Simone Marchetti. The video of the round table will then be available on the Vanity Fair website and on the brand's social channels. This is accompanied by 12 interviews with women who, with their unconventional beauty, tell of how the concept of beauty changes and evolves to make it contemporary and inclusive.
