It's called Chelada and it's a Mexican classic. Here's how to prepare it, but above all why
In Mexico it is hot, you have to drink a lot and are the drink specialists to fight the burning, even when it comes to cocktails. They love lime, beer and tequila and the combinations of these ingredients are unexpected in the eyes of us Europeans. But a sip is enough to convince yourself that they can work.
La Chelada is a beer-based "cocktail", very easy to replicate, super popular in Mexico City (also called Michelada, if you add a little Tabasco and worchester sauce). From Besame Mucho, the first and only restaurant of (true) Mexican cuisine in Milan, along with Margarita and Modelo beer also serve this. And you do it that way.
Ingredients
33 cl of Corona type, Modelo or Becks Next beer
abundant ice
two pinches of fine salt
a saucer with salt
2 files
Method
Cut the files in half, set aside a round slice and squeeze the rest.
Slide the lime onto the edge of the glass to moisten it and turn it over onto the saucer with the salt, so that it remains attached.
Pour the lime juice in two glasses, add a pinch of salt for one and mix to dissolve.
Add ice and beer.
Decorate with half a slice of lime and serve immediately.
For a twist: add two drops of Worcestershire sauce and Tabasco sauce to taste.
