For tomato pasta you need about 800 g of tomatoes (for 350 g of pasta), garlic or onion, extra virgin olive oil, salt and a few basil leaves.
Other advice
Someone whips the sauce at the end of cooking to make it more velvety: in the case, pass it again on the fire for a few minutes after blending it.
If you don't like the taste of garlic and onion, remove them from the hot oil before adding the tomato.
Never add water or broth to the tomato sauce.
