We eat the Covid-19 coronavirus for breakfast! Irony, superstition and sweetness directly from Genoa
Dramatic moments with the north of the country in difficulty (health and economic) due to the epidemic of Covid-19 coronavirus. Closed schools, companies stopped or forced to work smartly. And then theaters, museums, football games, concerts, gyms, oratories, even places of worship … in short: everything on stand by, waiting for the worst to pass and our social life to return to normal.
But there is one thing that certainly is not lacking and relieves the tension a little: irony. Social media are full of funny memes, playful posts, the desire to make the return to normal less heavy. A way, of course, also to exorcise evil by ridiculing it and making fun of it.
The sweet CoronaVirus
But in Genoa they went much further, with what we might call a sweet stroke of genius: if Covid-19 really has to enter our body, well then we decide where, when, how and what it should taste like.
Where is it: Mangini pastry shop in Genoa, in piazza Corvetto 3r. When we want a sweet treat and some divertissement. Like: accompanied by a good cappuccino, for example. To the flavor of coffee.
The pastry, which more precisely is a biscuit, is called, and how it could have been different: Corona Virus, and has aroused a lot of curiosity both in the city, where many have poured, also for superstition, to eat one, and on social where, as always, alongside amused and amusing comments, there was no lack of disapproval.
The ingredients? Sponge cake with coffee cream on top, white chocolate glaze and red colored sugar drops that reproduce the shape of the coronavirus; cost € 1.50 per piece.
The coronavirus jewel … not really, but it remembers it
Leaving the pastry field, it was not the only case. A few weeks ago FutureRemoto had presented the s / s 2020 collection of eco-sustainable and plastic free jewelry entitled Bacterium presenting it with these words: "Bacterium is the new SS 2020 jewelry capsule collection … in favor of a sustainable world". The collection actually reproduces "the newly discovered bacterium eats plastic" which is called Ideonella Sakaiensis 201 – F6, and not Covid-19. But the similarity is a lot.
In conclusion, by slightly distorting a famous phrase, the wish is that "a laugh THE will bury … Covid-19. " Fingers crossed!
