Coldiretti, the "black list" of products to avoid

There are ten potentially dangerous foods, because they are contaminated with harmful substances or infested with parasites. And nobody is Italian

If we buy local products, traceable, to benefit, first of all, is our health. It is the message from Coldiretti, which this year has also published a "black list" of the most dangerous foods that can end up in the shopping cart and on our tables. The organization wants to avoid any kind of alarmism, but warns that in 2018, out of 398 reports of harmful foods, over four in five products, among those dangerous for security, they came from abroad (83 percent). Consuming these foods, contaminated with harmful substances or infested with parasites, can cause health problems and cause vomiting and abdominal pain.

Attention: the blacklist!

Among the most dangerous products, of which Coldiretti advises against the purchase, there are the fish products from Spain, which can be contaminated with mercury and infested with the parasite Anisakis, le French live oysters, which can be contaminated by the Norovirus, and, again, among the meats, the chicken imported from Poland, which could present salmonella enterica.

Health begins with the choice of the food we buy

"Attention then to the labels that must guarantee the traceability of a product, especially if imported," they explain from Coldiretti. "The ideal is always to prefer local foods and maybe at zero kilometer, where is the made in Italy it is also synonymous with quality and strict rules for crops and livestock ".
